Welcome to our school website. This is your introduction to life in Mary Russell School. We hope you enjoy finding out about our school and find the information both interesting and helpful. Mary Russell School was opened in 1969 and is named after Miss Mary Russell, a pioneer of Special Education in the 20th Century. It is an inter denominational school catering for boys and girls aged 5 to 18 years with Additional Support Needs. The school is made up of a primary, secondary and post 16 department. There are currently 180 pupils in the school. This session there are 61 pupils in our Primary department, 82 pupils in our Secondary department and 37 pupils in our Post 16 Unit. The school has an operational capacity of 240 places. There are extensive grounds including a football/games field, a grassy play area and three paved playgrounds. Within the grounds we have a wide range of outdoor play equipment suited to the ages and abilities of our young people.
